Functional Capacity Assessments
FCAs are tailored, thorough, and driven by the individual for their goals, routines, environment, and stage of life.
EASY TO UNDERSTAND
What is an FCA?
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a detailed Occupational Therapy report that helps the NDIS understand how a person’s disability impacts their everyday life at home, at school or work, and in the community.
The assessment looks at an individual’s strengths, challenges, and support needs, and explains what supports, therapy, equipment, or assistance may help them live more independently, safely, and confidently.
COMPREHENSIVE
What does the assessment involve?
1:1 time with an Occupational Therapist
Observation of everyday activities and tasks
Standardised assessments and clinical analysis
Report writing to meet NDIS requirements
Liaison with families, support coordinators, or other professionals (if required)
Typically 10-15 hours, depending on complexity
ACCESSIBLE
Why is an FCA helpful?
Support NDIS planning, reviews, and funding decisions
Clearly explain needs in practical, everyday language
Recommend appropriate supports, therapy, equipment, and services
Reduce the need to repeatedly explain challenges to different providers
PERSONAL
Our approach
We take the time to understand the whole person and present their story clearly and respectfully, so the right supports can be put in place.
