THE NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME (NDIS)

The NDIS is a government funded initiative that provides funding to people under 65 years who meet a certain criteria. If you have a condition or impairment that is likely to be permanent; limited participation in activities or ability to carry out tasks; and a causal effect of the impairment on social and economic participation, than you can apply for NDIS funding to access service providers such as Occupational Therapists.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EARLY INTERVENTION (ECEI)

The NDIS also has an Early Intervention scheme to provide funding for children aged 0-6 who meet certain diagnostic criteria.

MEDICARE

Rebates are available under certain item numbers for up to five services a year. Your GP may be able to provide you with a Chronic Disease Management (or GPMP) and/or Better Access to Mental Health Care Plan. Please speak to your GP to see if you are eligible. A signed letter outlining the recommended items is required to confirm diagnosis.

PRIVATE HEALTH FUNDS

Depending on your level of private health cover and extras, you may have funding for Occupational Therapy.
